FAQs

What is the dress code for the wedding?

Dress your best for a night of joy, fun and celebration. A.K.A: Dress for a night wedding in NYC in September.

Where should I RSVP?

The button to RSVP can be found at the top right corner of this website.

What will be on the dinner menu?

It’s a surprise. :) However, gluten-free, vegan and vegetarian options will be available.

Will most of the events take place indoors?

Yes, all of them. But because the weather in NYC is usually amazing in September (on average a high of 76° and a low of 61°) there may be doors and windows open during some parts of the night.

Because the wedding is being held at a bookstore, does that mean this isn’t going to be a party and everyone is going to be seated in a circle reading Moby Dick?

Definitely not. We’re going to be reading Notes From The Underground. Just kidding. This is going to be a celebratory event inside a two-story space in SoHo lined with books, classic NY feels and you party people.

What are some fun facts about SoHo, Manhattan?

“SoHo” stands for south of Houston street. Phonetically that street is pronounced “How-Stun” NOT “Hew-Stun” for those who aren’t familiar and for New Yorkers to smile at this sentence. It’s a historic neighborhood in lower Manhattan that features exquisite cobblestone streets and the world’s greatest surviving collection of cast-iron architecture. Both David Bowie and Jean-Michel Basquiat once lived there. Soon you and we will dance there.

Catch some early SoHo vibes here.

Did Taylor Swift shoot her music video for “All Too Well” in the bookstore where the wedding is taking place?

Yes, it’s true. We just found this out, too. You can see the venue at around 11:52 here.

For those of us that don’t know, how did Ash and Greg meet?

They met through a dating app. Ashley swiped on Greg due to a photo of what looked like him slowly drowning while holding onto an inflatable swan raft. She liked that he was comfortable exposing his vulnerability. Greg messaged her and they began the chat like nerds, starting a book club. Ashley asked Greg to read “Homo Deus”—a philosophy about humans integrating with machines. Greg asked Ashley to read “Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy”—a humorous adventure sprinkled with a philosophy that the universe is too absurd, and life too grand, to stress about day-to-day offenses and setbacks.

When they first met IRL, it was at Hex & Co: a board game cafe where they played the game Taboo. It’s the same place where Ashley first found out Greg was hilariously funny, unbelievably kind and the exact type of guy she wanted to be working on a wedding website with almost two years later. It’s also the place where Greg first found out that Ashley possessed a unique sense of adventure, humor and creativity, and could wriggle or inspire a laugh or joy from everything—even life’s mundane activities or intensive tasks like planning a wedding. It’s also where Ashley met Zade, Greg’s awesome son.

Their engagement happened at the same table where they met, playing the same game …. except … Greg re-wrote the game rules and rigged the game so that the Taboo cards, after three rounds, magically spelled out “Will” “You” “Marry” “Me” “Ash” “Glass”… By about the fourth card, Ashley knew something was up and that’s when the tears started flowing down.

Is that why you chose the venue?

Def not. But one of us is a huge fan of her Midnights album. We actually chose the venue in about 5 mins. We thought it was beautiful, unique and true to our story. Plus, Housing Works has a mission to end the dual crises of homelessness and AIDS. Proceeds from their venue rentals support healthcare services, housing and advocacy efforts.

Will there be vegan/vegetarian/gluten-free food options on the dinner menu?

Yes.

When I RSVP, can I let you know about dietary restrictions and allergies?

Yes you can.

Are you really calling them out like that on this website?

Totally.

Will there be an open bar?

Yes there will be. And this was the first question Alexis and Becky asked.

When will the reception end? Will there be an after-party?

Reception ends at 11pm. We’re still deciding if there will be an after-party.

Will parking be available near the venue for those of us who are driving?

Almost every block around the bookstore has a parking garage.

What COVID-related health and safety measures will you be taking for the event?

We are working on finding out best practices for this based on our timeline and guests’ needs. As of now, masks are optional. Clothing is not.

What time does the event start?

Welcome drinks and live music will begin at 6pm. Please arrive no later than 6:15pm so the ceremony can begin at 6:30pm with everyone seated. Thank you!

How will you communicate any updated information and/or changes before the wedding?

We will both update the homepage of this site and contact you directly.
